Summary

Purpose of role

To contribute to the running of Despatch, Goods In and Stores. Working accurately and paying attention to detail so to ensure all orders are processed quickly and efficiently through to delivery to site. To work closely with other departments that are responsible for fulfilling orders and meeting customer delivery expectations. To facilitate and supervise the movement of goods, ensuring product in securely packaged to meet company standards and loaded on to vehicles with complete care to ensure quality is delivered to our clients. To ensure all incoming deliveries are recorded and stored properly, to allow easy identification and retrieval.

Roles and responsibilities 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate communication with all relevant departments on any factors which will impact on delivery and quality to our clients.
  • To identify and evaluate quality problems and to initiate, recommend and help provide effective solutions. Escalate as appropriate.

  • Ensure all goods delivered to VES, both internal and external, are checked prior to booking in to ensure database is correct and are not issued to production or Despatch without goodsin inspection.
  • If orders due for delivery have not arrived, liaise directly with supplier/SM. Escalate to Operations/ procurement if delay will affect Pick/ Despatch and cannot be managed within.
  • Stores, Yard and Despatch areas are tidy, and product is clearly labelled. If product is not labelled or mislabeled this must be rectified immediately. No product is left in yard overnight or in the elements, unless protected against weather damage and agreed with management.
  • Prevent poor stock control by processing correct administration when picking parts. If you come across a stock inconsistency escalate to inventory control immediately. Also, Stock location is secure, and Cleary labelled.
  • Operate counterbalance and reach trucks where necessary.

  • Ensure all Production picks and ancillary items for Despatch are picked 24 hours prior where feasible.
  • To ensure that all jobs that have been successfully inspected are wrapped, identified and adequately protected to prevent damage and/or loss of items during transport to the customer.

  • Perform all general aspects of physical Despatch requirements including packing of goods, movement of goods, holding of goods and loading of goods on to vehicles.
  • Ensure data base is kept up to date with all relevant data and goods are booked out successfully in a timely manner.
  • Support in client return requests, booking in stock and storing ready for inspection.
  • Support the management team in day-to-day coordination and management of warehouse activities.
  • Log all Courier damage and complaints to the Logistics department.

  • Support with ongoing training and development.
  • Maintain the companies Health and Safety policy’s and ensure all staff are practicing good health and safety awareness and wearing PPE at all times.
  • All other reasonable requests made by your line manager.
  • To be flexible with overtime where needed to support the department.
