Summary
Purpose of role
This role is responsible for ensuring the production work centre is uninterrupted by efficiently managing and replenishing all required materials, supplies, documentation and any resources that the work centre requires. To actively record the delivery of such resources and highlighting shortfalls to the operator, supervisory and operational teams. Resolving issues as they arise to reduce delays and errors.
Description
Roles and responsibilities:
- To ensure materials are delivered to the workstations in a clear and organised manner to enable the operator to commence work without checking or delays.
- To ensure materials and work in progress handling methods are safe and prevent damage.
- Operating Forklift trucks & handling aids to facilitate material movements.
- To control stocks using FIFO principles and maintain required stock rotation. To control material storage methods to ensure accurate stock control & usage.
- To replenish line side stocks of ready use consumable materials and components.
- Use and support of kanban methods of line side material control where relevant.
- To remove waste and discarded materials and disposition with regard to site recycling objectives.
- To assist in returning tools and production aids to their assigned locations. To maintain an awareness of tooling condition and highlighting discrepancies to the supervisory team.
- To update status boards and relevant production documentation as required to communicate latest information to the production teams.
- To assist with the movement of finished goods to the despatch areas.
- Liaison with relevant interested parties in the resolution of material issues and discrepancies.
- Using AX Database in posting material issues and work in progress movements.
- Communicate to internal & external staff with regard to the supply and distribution of materials.
- Liaison with the SM operations team in ensuring actions conform to the stock control methods.
- To liaise with the machine operators and to ensure accurate recording and control of sheet materials and offcuts.
- To be able to interpret drawings, schematics and technical documentation and instructions relating to material requirements.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate by the management team.
