Product Design Engineer

Summary

Purpose of role

We are seeking a hands-on Product Development Engineer to join our team at our Chandlers Ford HQ. This role is focused on designing, developing, and supporting new HVAC products using 2D and 3D CAD software. You will play a key role in the full product development lifecycle, helping to deliver solutions that are not only high-performing and cost-effective, but also more sustainable and compliant with current industry regulations.

Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D designs using AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
  • Design with a focus on reducing embodied carbon and improving overall environmental impact.
  • Develop and test prototypes to validate design performance and compliance.
  • Create technical documentation, including BOMs, assembly drawings, and supporting manuals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, and Sales to ensure smooth product introduction and launch.
  • Support design reviews and ensure adherence to internal and customer specifications.
  • Assist in value engineering and design-for-manufacture initiatives to optimise cost and performance.
  • Maintain and update product BIM models and technical artwork.
  • Participate in product testing, data analysis, and iteration to improve product quality.
  • Contribute to product launch planning, supporting Sales and Marketing with technical input.
  • Stay current with relevant HVAC legislation, building regulations, and industry standards, ensuring all designs remain compliant.
