Purpose of role

To execute all aspects of logistics planning, by effectively communicating with internal and external customers, whilst ensuring we are meeting our transport GP margins to support business revenue and cashflow.

Roles and responsibilities

Logistics Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we have the most up to date information for customer deliveries
  • Calculate and plan transport requirements effectively to meet our customer delivery requirements, balancing the most cost-effective option against customer and product requirement and/or risk to support Transport GP targets and ensure a safe and effective service
  • Actively seek to uplift customer delivery charges for special delivery requirements, supporting cost recovery and Transport GP Targets
  • Manage transport bookings through 3rd party suppliers/ logistics suppliers and internal despatch departments to meet on time customer delivery requirements
  • Ensure compliance with both company policies and transport-related safety standards and legal requirements for goods in transit
  • Communicate with suppliers/logistics partners and customers to resolve any transportation/delivery issues or delays in a professional and timely manner
  • Execute the arrangements for storage requirements both onsite and offsite, including effective management of the vesting process and processing any related charges to the customer
  • Maintain accurate records of all delivery-related requirements, arrangements and bookings
  • Process and manage supplier/logistics claims regarding delivery related damage and/or loss
  • Support in the development and optimisation of logistics processes to reduce costs and improve efficiencies
  • Collaborate with key related departments to ensure flow of information and understanding of linked activities

General Responsibilities

  • Provide high levels of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Manage and monitor Department KPI’s and escalate any failing to the line manager.
  • Contribute to cost avoidance by managing actual demand.
  • Maintain the company database through accurate data input.
  • Perform supporting administration functions related to the Operations Department responsibilities
  • Review and manage documentation and information transfer in and out of the department to effectively control activities to enable others to achieve their requirements.

Other:

  • Work with the team and Operations management to improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizational goals to maximize effective, efficient, profitable output
  • Support with ongoing training, development, and recruitment
  • Maintain the companies Health and Safety policy’s
  • To be flexible with overtime where needed to support the department.
  • Assist and participate with your appraisal, provide feedback, and adopt clear personal development plans.
  • All other reasonable requests made by your line manager.
