To execute all aspects of logistics planning, by effectively communicating with internal and external customers to meet on time customer delivery, whilst ensuring we are meeting our transport GP margins to support business revenue and cashflow.

Roles and responsibilities

Planning Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production and delivery schedules based on customer demand, product lead-time, design and production capacity and inventory levels
  • Plan and execute supply of externally purchased components in line with supply lead-times, production schedules and demand
  • React to changes in demand, managing schedule adjustments and supply plans to suit
  • Ensure lean production sequencing throughout all work centre groups and operations using previously determined sequences and lead times to achieve a JIT (Just In Time) supply plan
  • Implement best practices for production planning and inventory management, analysing production data and trends to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure optimal resource allocation throughout the production and supply chains
  • Manage and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure information is relevant and correct for customer deliveries
  • Calculate and plan transport requirements effectively to meet our customer delivery requirements, balancing the most cost-effective option against customer and product requirement and/or risk to support Transport GP targets and ensure a safe and effective service
  • Manage transport bookings through 3rd party suppliers/ logistics suppliers and co-ordinate with internal stakeholders to meet on time customer delivery requirements
  • Communicate with suppliers/logistics partners and customers to resolve any transportation/delivery issues or delays in a professional and timely manner
  • Execute the arrangements for storage requirements both onsite and offsite, including effective management of the vesting process and processing any related charges to the customer
  • Process and manage supplier/logistics claims regarding delivery related damage and/or loss
  • Actively seek to uplift customer delivery charges for special delivery requirements, supporting cost recovery and Transport GP Targets

General Responsibilities

  • Provide high levels of customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Develop effective collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure flow of information and understanding of linked activities
  • Ensure compliance with both company policies and transport-related safety standards and legal requirements for goods in transit
  • Contribute to the successful achievement of Department KPI’s and escalate any failings to the line manager.
  • Contribute to cost avoidance by managing actual demand.
  • Maintain the company database through accurate data input and records of all processed information and plans
  • Perform supporting administration functions related to the Operations Department responsibilities
  • Review and manage documentation and information transfer in and out of the department to effectively control activities to enable others to achieve their requirements.

  • Support in the development and optimisation of the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizational goals to maximize effective, efficient, profitable output
  • Support with ongoing training, development, and recruitment
  • Maintain the companies Health and Safety policy’s
  • Be flexible with overtime where needed to support the department.
