Purpose of role

Ability to supervise and motivate a team, demonstrating correct behaviours and discipline, working to strict safety and quality requirements, to support the effective co-ordination, planning and productivity of the Manufacturing schedules to achieve daily production requirements throughout assembly to meet customer expectations, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence. To contribute towards the Manufacturing Strategy of “On time in full, at Best Quality, Lowest Total Cost, Shortest Lead Time and High Morale; through optimising production flow by eliminating any waste.

  • Ensure weekly WorkCentre safety inspection checks are completed and recorded.
  • To effectively deliver the day-to-day production plans through preplanning, assigning builds and effective communication with team leaders and their operatives throughout the day and between shifts.
  • Using the manufacturing WorkCentre to support the overall co-ordination of the manufacturing departments activities, to ensure the achievement of schedules and consistent delivery of internal and external key performance indicators. See and follow WorkCentre management procedure.
  • Communicate and effectively manage staff movements.
  • Ensure the manufacturing WorkCentre reflects the physical state through production order control, status and traffic light system, ensuring hours of work are posted daily.
  • To assist and offer technical support to manufacturing operatives that cannot be managed by the team leaders and operatives, able to offer advice on problem solving to effectively come to a resolution to prevent impacting on time delivery at best quality.
  • Operating within a manufacturing environment, assisting all operatives with product construction guidelines whilst ensuring they conform to our standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Managing change note requests within the manufacturing team, ensuring all changes that influence the build plans are managed effectively.
  • Attend weekly WorkCentre review meetings and communicate effectively with all departments ensuring all data is correct and accurate, discussing any potential issues that could impact the ability to meet forecasted plans.
  • Assist the manufacturing manager in identifying route times so the information can be fed back into our supporting tools such as CCSI to help drive accurate route times at time of scheduling.
  • Support with staff 1-2-1’s, ensuring all staff are clear on daily objectives, performance and priorities.
  • Support with onboarding and training plans of new staff to meet agreed efficiency levels, in agreed time frames.
  • To provide training of other colleagues on various processes as and where necessary, e.g. posting route hours etc.
  • Support the completion of actions on receipt of change note requests.
  • Ensure accurate communication with all relevant departments on any factors which will impact on delivery and quality to our clients.
  • To review the air handling drawing prior to constructing with your operatives, ensuring all required materials and casework is present to meet the agreed build plan unless otherwise agreed.
  • Approach any visitors to the Shopfloor to offer assistance, where required.
  • All production areas kept tidy and organised, ensuring operatives keep their bays and surrounding areas clear and tidy. All tools are locked away and kept well maintained.
  • Ensure all tools and working area are respected and maintained, to keep clean and tidy and free from hazards.
  • To maintain and improve best quality standards, inspecting throughout the manufacturing process, reporting any concerns to your direct report to effectively come to a resolution to prevent impacting on time delivery at best quality.
  • Provide feedback on issues through QA reporting to enable effective preventative measures to be implemented, following the DOR process.
  • Ensure rework is processed efficiently, liaising with your key stakeholders to ensure customer delivery is upheld.
  • Ensure product is to the correct tolerances and meets customer and internal standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all product, materials and components are treated with care throughout assembly to preserver product finish.
  • To assist with the implementation and development of new and improved products and offering constructive feedback and input to enhance the development or better the product’s features and build qualities.
  • To be flexible with overtime where needed to support the team in meeting manufacturing schedules.
